Florida landscaping firm donates to outdoor garden classroom
By Jennifer Mitchell

Girard Environmental installed stone pavers in the outdoor garden classroom at Midway Safe Harbor Center.
Girard Environmental Services, a full-service landscaping company based in Seminole County, Florida, donated more than $5,000 worth of landscaping services to Midway Safe Harbor Center. Midway Safe Harbor Center is an after-school program located in Sanford that also serves as a 21st Century Community Learning Center in Seminole County.

Girard Environmental installed irrigation and stone pavers and provided arbor and landscaping care to the center’s 10,000-square-foot outdoor garden classroom. Nearly 180 students work on the garden throughout the year, where they grow everything from onions and corn to pineapples and red peppers.

Pat Cucci, executive director of the Midway Safe Harbor Center, said the donation would help maintain the garden project, which the center uses to teach students about horticulture.
